Lukoil starts supplying ECA-compliant fuel at Murmansk

Russian firm began supplying its new brand of low sulphur marine fuel at the start of January.

Lukoil-Bunker LLC has confirmed that it has started supplying low sulphur marine fuel at the port of Murmansk since the start of January.

Lukoil previously reported that it had developed a new brand of marine fuel that could be used in Emission Control Areas (ECAs) and which complied with the new restrictions that came into force in January 2015 that require ships to burn fuel with a sulphur content not exceeding 0.1 percent.

The bunker fuel will be supplied to ships transiting the North Sea, Baltic Sea and the English Channel, Lukoil said.
