The Bunker Index (BIX) global monthly average fell to its lowest level since February 2011 during the month of September, according to Bunker Index price data.

The worldwide bunker average decreased by $15.61, or 2.0 percent, to $753.82 per tonne this month, down from $769.43 per tonne in August. It is the most significant monthly decline since April 2013.

In comparison with previous years, the September 2014 average is $45.43 lower than the $799.25 per tonne average price recorded in September 2013 and $99.26 below the $853.08 per tonne figure seen in September 2012.
