August the most volatile month since April


BIX data shows that price volatility in August rose to its highest level in four months.

Bunker price volatility rose to its highest level since April during the month of August, according to Bunker Index price data.

In a comparison of low-high differentials for the daily BIX global average, August proved to be the fourth most volatile month since September 2012 with a low-high differential of $23.09 per tonne, up from 14.21 in July.

The lowest daily global bunker price last month was $785.94 per tonne recorded on August 9, whilst the highest price was $809.03 per tonne on August 29.
