Arsenio Dominguez to open Ship Efficiency: The Exhibition

MEPC Chairman Elect to deliver keynote lecture and officially open exhibition.

Arsenio A. Dominguez, International Maritime Organization (IMO) Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) Vice-chairman and MEPC Chairman Elect 2014, is to deliver the keynote lecture at Fathom Shipping's Ship Efficiency: The Event. The lecture will see him officially open the only exhibition for ship efficiency solutions during London International Shipping Week.

In a statement, Fathom Shipping said: "Dominguez's future role as MEPC Chairman places him in a unique position to offer his insights to delegates in attendance at the event, which is dedicated to ways in which operators can enhance their bottom line through fuel efficiency measures."

Dominguez commented: "The future of shipping lies in the hands of an emerging generation of ever-changing shipping fleets and those in charge of them. Technologies enabling both cost savings and emissions reduction are no longer an idealism but a requirement for all industry players wanting to remain at the forefront of shipping. I look forward to seeing those innovating and showcasing their technologies that are shaping the future of the maritime industry at the Ship Efficiency exhibition."

Dominguez has been in the shipping industry all his working life. He graduated as a Naval Architect from the Veracruzana University in Veracruz, Mexico in 1995. His career began in Panama City at the Braswell Shipyard in Panama City, where he went on to join the Panama Maritime Authority. In 2004, he became Alternate Representative and Technical Adviser of Panama to the IMO in 2004.

As well as being Vice-Chairman of the IMO MEPC, he is also the Chairman of the IMO’s Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) Working Group on Maritime Security and Piracy.

“The way in which we have always sought to add value to our analysis of the industry is through partnership with industry experts, and Mr Dominguez is most certainly one of those,” said Alison Jarabo, director of Fathom Shipping, the event and the publishing company behind this event. "We are very pleased to announce Mr Dominguez's presence at Ship Efficiency: The Event, at a time when the shipping industry's future is none too clear; precisely why the exchange of ideas and innovations across the industry is more important than ever."

Ship Efficiency: The Event in association with Inmarsat, is being held from 10 - 11 September 2013 in London and is an official part of London International Shipping Week. The third annual Ship Efficiency event organised by Fathom Shipping, will see hundreds of delegates from around the world gather to engage with and discuss practical solutions and strategies for improving operational and vessel efficiency, and the overall bottom line. The free to attend exhibition will host over 50 exhibitors.
