The International Maritime Organization will host a technical seminar on marine biofuels at its London headquarters on 12 February, according to an announcement from the organization.

The event, organized by the IMO’s Future Fuels and Technology (FFT) Project, will run from 10:30am to 6:00pm and will examine recent experiences with biofuels and their future role in low-GHG shipping.

The seminar forms part of the IMO’s ongoing work on maritime decarbonization, as the industry explores alternative fuel options to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from shipping.

The FFT Project was established to support the IMO’s work on evaluating and developing guidance for the safe use of alternative fuels in shipping, as the sector works towards meeting the organization’s greenhouse gas reduction targets.
