BIX global bunker average falls 3.3% in March


Monthly global bunker average falls to its lowest level since December.



The average global monthly Bunker Index (BIX) price fell by $27.77 per tonne, or 3.3 percent, in March compared to the previous month, according to Bunker Index price data.

The BIX global monthly average dropped to $816.72 per tonne last month, down from $844.73 per tonne in February. It is the lowest monthly price since December.

Last month's bunker average is also the first monthly decline since December and the fourth in the last six months.

In a comparison with previous years, March 2013 was $85.18 per tonne lower than the $902.14 average price recorded in March 2012 and $16.71 per tonne higher than the $800.25 per tonne figure seen in March 2011.
