Wärtsilä appoints global R&D VP


Shell veteran will be responsible for global R&D, where the focus will be on energy efficiency.



Wärtsilä has announced the appointment of Trudy Schoolenberg as Vice President, Global R&D, Wärtsilä Industrial Operations.

Ms Schoolenberg was appointed on August 15th and will be responsible for the global research and development of Wärtsilä products.

Ms Schoolenberg previously worked for oil major Shell in a number of strategic, operational and technological roles since 1989.

She recently held the position of General Manager, Strategy for Shell Chemicals, London, where she was responsible for overall strategy and portfolio development.

Previously, she was Deputy Site Manager and Production Manager for Pernis Refinery, one of the largest oil refineries in the world.

Between 1989 and 2003 Ms Schoolenberg held managerial positions in various parts of the Shell organization, in Operations, R&D and Technical Services.

Ms Schoolenberg's educational background combines B.Sc. in Industrial Design Engineering (Product Development) with M.Sc. (with honours) in Mechanical Engineering and a PhD in Physics.
