OW Bunker appoints senior trader in Dubai

Experienced trader takes on new role aimed at strengthening the company's position in the Middle East.

OW Bunker, one of the world’s largest suppliers and traders of marine fuel, has today announced the appointment of Kurosh Khonsari as a new Senior Bunker Trader for OW Bunker Middle East DMCC.

OW Bunker said the move comes on the back of real growth for the company, which is said to have increased its market share year-on-year in the region since the Dubai office was established.

Kurosh Khonsari has significant experience in the shipping industry. He joined OW Bunker in 1999, based out of its head office in Aalborg, Denmark, predominantly working on Middle Eastern accounts.

OW Bunker launched its Dubai operation in 2007 and now has five traders working with a range of local and international customers from container carriers to bulkers.

"Customers benefit from the full scale of OW Bunker’s global operations, providing them with quick access to quality products and services, including advanced risk management strategies when and where they need them," OW said in a statement.

Commenting on the appointment, Kristian Korsgaard Pedersen, Manager, OW Bunker Middle East DMCC, said: “I am delighted that Kurosh has taken on the Senior Bunker Trader role, helping us to further strengthen our position in the region.

“His years of experience of working with customers in the Middle East and his understanding of the local market will be invaluable in driving OW Bunker’s Middle East division forward to new heights. We have generated real growth within the region since its inception, and we are confidant that with our offering and knowledge of the region, combined with the right people we will continue to grow our market share over the coming year,” Pedersen added.
