New CEPSA barge to serve the Strait of Gibraltar

Newly-built barge to supply marine fuel in the ports of Algeciras and Gibraltar.

Spanish bunker supplier CEPSA Marine Fuels, S.A. (CMF) has announced the launch of a new barge for the ports of Algeciras and Gibraltar.

The Spabunker Cuarenta is a newly-built vessel which is said to have been specifically designed to supply marine fuel using the most up-to-date technology.

The 4,200-tonne dwt barge has the capacity to store up to 3,600 tonnes of fuel oil and 500 tonnes of distillates. It is able to segregate up to five different products, three for fuel, one for marine gasoil (MGO) and one for marine diesel oil (MDO), thus providing versatility for everyday operations.

The vessel's pumping rate is 3x600 m3/hour for fuel oil and 2x200 for MGO and MDO.

The Spabunker Cuarenta is able to reach speeds of up to 12 knots and is said to comply with all the international regulations in terms of safety and environmental contamination.

Commenting on the launch CMF said it was constantly working to achieve customer satisfaction by combining service and quality, adding that the Spabunker Cuarenta was an 'excellent example' of the company's aim of delivering a premium customer service.
