ExxonMobil to launch marine lube seminar


New seminar programme will aim to help shipping firms cut lubricant-related costs.

ExxonMobil Marine Lubricants is introducing a new global seminar programme aimed at helping shipping firms reduce lubricant-related operating costs and meet the environmental challenges ahead.

Entitled "Technology Leadership", the programme will feature presentations by senior-level ExxonMobil Marine Lubricants executives and guest speakers.

The first seminar will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on October 12th.

Other seminars are also scheduled to take place in Singapore, Hong Kong, Busan, Athens, Hamburg, The Netherlands, Bergen, Oslo, Gothenberg, Copenhagen, New Orleans, Tokyo and Imabari.

Seminar topics will include the contamination of medium-speed engine lubricants with residual fuel; balancing the cost of cylinder oil and the expense of wear-related cylinder maintenance; advancements in oil analysis; operating in a low-sulphur fuel environment; synthetic lubricants and future technologies, including new cylinder oil and “blending on board”, a process that enables vessel personnel to batch blend oils to meet specific operating conditions.
