Dan-Bunkering reveals Southern Asia strategy


Danish firm says it aims to strengthen its position in the region via a 'focus area' strategy.



Danish owned A/S Dan-Bunkering Ltd. has said that it is currently focusing its attention on India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, where it is aiming to strengthen its market position as well as generate even stronger relationships with local suppliers.

As a leading player in the marine fuels and lubricants market, entering new markets is not unknown territory to Dan-Bunkering.

The company has already been trading in the ports of Karachi, Colombo, Chittagong, Mundra and Kandla for quite some time already. Furthermore, at Dan-Bunkering's offices in Middelfart, Copenhagen, Singapore, Shanghai and Kaliningrad, each sales team is also divided into several 'supplier focus areas', covering most of the world’s leading ports.

"The main objective of the focus areas is to maintain and develop personal relations with local suppliers the same way as is done with customers – Dan-Bunkering refuses to be just one of many towards suppliers and customers," the company said in a statement.

"As [a] pioneer in the industry, the company seeks to create trust and personal relations – the goal is to be local as well as global," the company added.

As for the new focus area in Southern Asia, building relationships and developing personal ties is a key element for the company.

With two experienced and professional traders in the team – Raj Kiran Wuddi and Mads Holm [pictured] – Dan-Bunkering aims to provide local suppliers and customers with quality service 24 hours a day.

Dan-Bunkering also aims to use the 'focus area' strategy to its advantage by being able to provide knowledge on local conditions and issues and key market information concerning ports, prices and suppliers.

"Information becomes more and more important in today’s world and gives the company an opportunity to provide an extra service to customers, thus adding value," the company said.
