Bunker Holding Group's physical supply brand, Bunker One, has announced the expansion of its operation in Israel with the launch of a new barge delivery service along the country's southern coast.

The recently launched marine fuel supplier, via its Israel-based business Bunker Point Supply Ltd, has positioned two bunkering tankers at the port of Ashdod: the 2012-built, 820-deadweight-tonne (dwt) MT Euploia 1 and the 2007-built, 4,300-dwt MT Leon. The first deliveries were performed last week, Global Director Peter Zachariassen told Bunker Index.

The two vessels are being used to service the whole southern coast of Israel, including the ports of Ashkelon and Hadera - as well as Ashdod.

The ship-to-ship operation is offering a range of 3.5% fuel oils - from 80 centistoke (cSt) to 380 cSt - in addition to 0.1% DMA-specification marine gas oil (MGO).

The new service is in addition to the company's existing truck delivery operation in Israel, which covers the ports of Ashdod, Haifa, Hadera and Eilat, supplying MGO only.

Commenting on the launch of the tanker service, Bunker One said the shipping community "has for years sought competitive bunkering solutions in the East Mediterranean", and that the company was "committed to introducing a new driving spirit of world class bunkering solutions" to the region.

The bunker supplier noted: "Maritime activity in the Eastern Mediterranean has been characterized by continuous growth, development, and traffic volumes aided by the prospects of the significant rise in regional offshore activities and developments in transshipment and storage infrastructure in this specific area."

Bunker One's office in Binyamina is headed by Tal Dori, who previously served as managing director at United Petroleum Export Co. Ltd. (UNEX).

"The Bunker Point Supply team holds vast experience in the field of bunkering by being vertically integrated in sourcing, logistics and physical supply coupled with and strengthened by an unsurpassed network of trading offices around the world," the company said.
