Singapore achieves best 12-month sales figure in its history


Rolling 12-month sales surpass 50m tonnes for fourth consecutive month; first ever 50m-tonne calendar year.



Singapore recorded rolling 12-month sales of more than 50 million tonnes for the fourth month in a row in December, according to data released by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), whilst at the same time achieving the best 12-month sales figure in its history and selling more than 50 million tonnes during a calendar year for the first time.

Between January and December 2017, the Asian port sold 50,636,500 tonnes of marine fuel - beating the previous year's figure of 48,614,000 tonnes by 2,022,500 tonnes, or 4.2 percent, and also surpassing the previous 12-month record of 50,244,800 tonnes sold between December 2016 and November 2017.

Total 2017 sales of 380 centistoke (cst) - Singapore's best-selling fuel grade - rose year-on-year (YoY) by 1,706,200 tonnes, or 4.7 percent, to 37,814,100 tonnes.

500 cSt volume increased by 252,000,tonnes, or 2.6 percent, to 10,053,100 tonnes - exceeding 10 million tonnes for the first time.

Deliveries of low-sulphur marine gas oil (LSMGO) jumped 13 percent, or 148,300 tonnes, to 1,285,000 tonnes last year.

Standard MGO sales, meanwhile, moved in the opposite direction, declining by 117,300 tonnes, or 13.7 percent, to 736,200 tonnes.
