Dan-Bunkering names head office sales manager

Ex-North America MD takes up sales manager role in Denmark.

A/S Dan-Bunkering Ltd has announced that Mikkel Soholm Vestergaard has been named sales manager at its head office in Middelfart after spending two years in Houston as the managing director of its offices in North America.

As Bunker Index previously reported, Jim Jensen was promoted to the role of North America MD on July 1.

Dan-Bunkering said Vestergaard had "not only acquired thorough knowledge within bunker trading and shipping but also within management, HR and staff development both in Denmark as well as abroad."

Vestergaard initially began his career at Dan-Bunkering in 2002, where he was employed as a bunker trader in Middelfart until 2006. After three years of trading, he then decided to pursue a career in the Danish military, both in Denmark as well as abroad, where - amongst other things - he was involved in management training and worked in the area of staff development.

In 2013, Vestergaard recommenced his career in the bunker business by rejoining Dan-Bunkering. In August 2014, he was appointed Group Manager - Recruitment & Training, where he was responsible for developing and maintaining a global training and education programme for all Dan-Bunkering's traders, and for the company's recruitment. Then, in July 2015, he was appointed managing director at the company's office in Houston, which opened in 2012.

Christoffer Berg Lassen, CEO, remarked: "We are pleased that Mikkel has decided to return to Denmark and Middelfart where he commenced his career several years ago. There is no doubt that Mikkel is able to contribute with broad knowledge within bunkers, however, his extensive management experience will without a doubt also be of benefit to the team in Middelfart."
