Dan-Bunkering names Jim Jensen as North America MD

Jensen promoted to new role as Mikkel Vestergaard returns to Denmark.

Dan-Bunkering - part of Bunker Holding A/S - has announced the promotion of Jim Jensen to the position of managing director of its North America operation as of July 1.

Jensen initially started with Dan-Bunkering back in 2008 as a bunker trader in Copenhagen; he then relocated to Houston in 2012 at the same time as the company's first Americas office was launched, where he advanced to Commercial Director.

Prior to joining the Dan-Bunkering Group, Jensen was employed by oil major Chevron in Denmark.

Commenting on the promotion, Dan-Bunkering's CEO, Christoffer Berg Lassen, said: "I am excited to welcome Jim as the future managing director of our North American offices after Mikkel Vestergaard, the previous managing director, has moved back to Denmark to rejoin the office in Middelfart.

"During his employment with the Dan-Bunkering Group, Jim has proven himself as a strong asset with a high performing and proactive personality with excellent motivational skills, making him the obvious choice as the new managing director. I am confident that Jim's promotion will enhance the dynamic of the Houston office and add significant value to both of our North American offices as well as our group as a whole."

The promotion of Jim Jensen is the first key managerial change by Dan-Bunkering since Lassen's appointment as CEO in May.

As previously reported, Glander International Bunkering - another company owned by Bunker Holding - promoted three traders in Dubai last week and, also in June, a trader at each of its offices in Dubai, Mumbai and Singapore.

Commenting on the issue of internal promotions and staff mobility, Dan-Bunkering said: "The promotion of Jim as well as the relocation of Mikkel are excellent examples of the Dan-Bunkering Group's internal mobility programme, giving talented and career motivated staff the opportunity to transfer knowledge and experience between the offices worldwide."
