Alfa Laval awarded PureSOx scrubber contract


Delivery of eight hybrid exhaust gas cleaning systems is scheduled for 2018 and 2019.

Alfa Laval has won a contract to supply eight of its PureSOx exhaust gas cleaning systems.

The order, which was booked by the marine division's Boiler & Gas Systems unit towards the end of March, has a total value of SEK 125 million ($13.9 million). Delivery of the exhaust gas cleaning systems, also known as 'scrubbers', is scheduled for 2018 and 2019.

The eight hybrid Alfa Laval PureSOX exhaust gas cleaning systems are to be installed on board two vessels.

"I am very pleased to announce this large order for our scrubber systems. It confirms that Alfa Laval PureSOx is an attractive and proven solution for the reduction of sulfur oxides," commented Peter Leifland, President of the Marine Division.

Last month, Alfa Laval said it was continuing to work on making improvements to its PureSOx sulphur oxide (SOx) scrubber platform.

Launched in 2012, the product is designed to enable vessels meet SOx regulation limits while continuing to use cheaper heavy fuel oil (HFO).
