Brent vs BIX price comparison


Analysis of Brent crude vs the BIX global bunker price in September.



The global bunker average rose at a higher rate than Brent crude during the month of September, according to Bunker Index (BIX) and Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) price data.

The Brent settlement average increased by just $0.08 per barrel, or 0.17 percent, to $47.24 per barrel in September. During the same period, the BIX global bunker average was up $5.13 per tonne, or 1.3 percent, to $413.11 per tonne.

In an analysis of the last 12 months, since September 2015, the Brent monthly average has fallen $1.30 per barrel, or 2.7 percent, from $48.54 to $47.24 per barrel, whilst the BIX monthly global average has declined by a more significant $24.79 per tonne, or 5.7 percent, from $437.90 to $413.11 per tonne.
