Bunker prices vs crude in 2015


Analysis of WTI and Brent crude prices vs the BIX global bunker price in 2015.



Global bunker prices declined at a near-identical rate to WTI crude but at a less significant rate than Brent during 2015, according to Bunker Index (BIX), Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) and New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) price data.

Between December 31, 2014, and December 31, 2015, the worldwide bunker average decreased by $164.06, or 31 percent, from $529.14 per tonne to $365.08 per tonne.

During the same period, WTI crude settlement prices were down $16.23, or $30.5 percent, from $53.27 per barrel to $37.04 per barrel.

Brent crude prices fell by $20.05, or 35.0 percent, from $57.33 per barrel to $37.28 per barrel.
