Global Risk Management appoints ex-OW risk management specialists


Danish firm opens new office in Copenhagen and employs Serge Laureau and Mark Vinther.



A/S Global Risk Management has confirmed the launch of its new office in Copenhagen, Denmark. The new operation was launched on January 1, 2015.

Commenting on the news, managing director Hans Erik Christensen said: "Our client base in the eastern part of Denmark as well as Scandinavia has increased over the years. With the new office we wish to enhance our presence in the area."

To head the office in Copenhagen, Serge Laureau and Mark Vinther have been employed as Senior Oil Risk Managers. "They are both very experienced within fuel risk management and have extensive knowledge of the oil market, hedging strategies and products," the company said.

Laureau, aged 51, was previously employed as Senior Trader/Risk Management Sales at O.W. Bunker & Trading A/S between 2010 and 2014. Prior to this, he traded commodities and managed futures portfolios at Saxo Bank between 2005 and 2009. He was also employed as Senior Vice President at Nationsbank-Bank of America between 1997 and 1999 and worked in derivatives sales at Union Europeenne de CIC between 1992 and 1997.

Laureau holds a Master in Economic Sciences from Paris X University as well as an MBA from Institut Supérieur de Gestion in Paris. Being of French nationality, Laureau has been tasked with focusing on clients in the Mediterranean area.

Before joining Global Risk Management, Mark Vinther, aged 33 years, was employed as Regional Sales Manager, Europe at O.W. Risk Management between April and November 2014. Prior to this, he was Chief Sales Manager - Commodities at Nordea Markets between August 2010 and April 2014. He also worked as freight derivatives and coal trader at Vattenfall (2009 to 2010), freight derivatives trader at D/S Norden A/S (October 2008 to February 2009), freight derivatives broker at Marex Spectron (December 2007 to October 2008), private banker at Nordea (October 2006 to December 2007) and private banker at Jyske Bank (March 2002 to October 2006).

Vinther holds a diploma in business administration from Copenhagen Business School.
