Denmark-based Bunker Holding A/S - part of United Shipping & Trading Company (USTC) group and the parent company of a group of bunker companies worldwide - has confirmed the appointment of Jan Obel [pictured] as Chief Sales Officer as of September 1, 2014.

Obel will principally be based in London but also work from the company's headquarters in Middelfart, Denmark, as well as travelling to key strategic clients worldwide.

The Chief Sales Officer position is a newly created function within Bunker Holding. According to the firm, Obel will be responsible for new business development with a primary focus on the development of large strategic customers, marine lubricants and new strategic business development projects.

Keld Demant, Group CEO Bunker Holding commented: "Following the Board of Directors' recent approval of our new strategy, I am very pleased to welcome Jan to our management team at Bunker Holding. During Jan's latest experience as CEO of the KPI Bridge Oil Group for more than 6 years, he gained thorough knowledge and experience within all aspects of the bunker business, which we as well as our other subsidiaries can now benefit from. Jan additionally brings a wealth of experience from previous international sales and management positions."

Obel remarked: "I am extremely excited to join the Bunker Holding team in this new function and to start working on strategic sales and business development and other core business activities in close cooperation with the Bunker Holding subsidiaries."
