IBIA chief executive Ian Adams resigns


Adams leaves IBIA to look after family as wife recovers from medical treatment.

The International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA) has today announced the resignation of its chief executive Ian Adams.

In a message to IBIA members, current IBIA Chairman Bob Lintott said: "I am writing to inform you that I have, with regret, accepted the resignation of Ian Adams as the Chief Executive of IBIA, with effect from 31 July 2011. He leaves us in order to look after his family whilst his wife recovers from medical treatment.

"I am sure that you will agree that Ian’s contribution to IBIA over the past 10 years has been first class and that he has been instrumental in turning the association into a globally recognised industry body which has grown in size, reputation and influence. He will be sorely missed."

IBIA said arrangements will be made as soon as possible for an interim chief executive and, in due course, a permanent replacement.

"This has not been an easy decision for Ian and I am sure that you will join me in wishing him all the best in his future employment," added Lintott.
