Cockett barge arrives on the Thames


Cockett Marine announces the return of its barge to the UK bunker market.



Cockett Marine has announced the return of M/T Beringzee (formally M/T London), which will operate as a bunker barge on the River Thames and Medway from March 2011.

The vessel has been working for Cockett Marine's sister company Associated BunkerOil Contractors BV for the past 8 months in Rotterdam, having previously served on the Thames for oil major BP.

"The M/T Beringzee will enhance our delivery capacity as she works alongside M/V Humber Endeavour to facilitate all deliveries," Cockett Marine said in a statement.

M/T Beringzee has onboard blending capabilities to provide both high and low sulphur fuel and marine gasoil (MGO) 0.1%.

Cockett Marine is owned by South African holding company Grindrod Limited, which first acquired a 50% share in Cocket Marine Oil in July 2005.

The company currently supplies in the region of 5 million tonnes of marine fuel and lubricants per annum and has a turnover of approximately $1 billion.
