Aegean newbuild earmarked for Greece

Supplier takes delivery of double-hull bunker tanker from China.

Leading bunker supplier Aegean Marine Petroleum Network Inc. has announced that it has taken delivery of the Nisyros, a 6,270 dwt double-hull bunker tanker newbuild from Qingdao Hyundai Shipyard in China.

The vessel is expected to be deployed to the marine fuels market in Greece.

Commenting on the news, E. Nikolas Tavlarios, President, said, "We are pleased to take delivery of the Nisyros, our 6th double-hull bunkering tanker newbuilding to date in 2010 and 26th since Aegean Marine's IPO in December 2006. We plan to deploy this vessel to Greece, where we continue to meet the strong demand for modern tonnage.

"With nine additional double-hull bunkering tankers scheduled to be delivered this year under our fully financed newbuild program, we remain well positioned to further expand sales volumes and strengthen our leading brand for the global supply of marine fuel," Tavlarios added.
