OW Bunker appoints offshore head in Copenhagen

Bent Warming Hansen is appointed Strategic Account Manager for the offshore segment.

OW Bunker, one of the world’s largest suppliers and traders of marine fuel oil, today announced the appointment of Bent Warming Hansen as its new Strategic Account Manager for the offshore segment. Hansen will be based out of OW Bunker Copenhagen, the Group’s latest independent division.

Bent Warming Hansen’s key area of responsibility will be to develop OW Bunker’s offering within the offshore industry, working and building relationships with key customers as well as identifying and developing a new business pipeline. The European offshore market has shown significant growth in recent years, and is an area where OW Bunker has a wealth of knowledge and experience in providing physical supplies.

Hansen has over 20 years of experience in the oil and gas exploration and production (E&P) industry, working on a number of E&P projects all over the world.

Prior to joining OW Bunker Copenhagen, Hansen worked for Seatronics Ltd, where he was Regional Manager for Singapore with responsibilities for developing the company’s advanced electronic systems in the E&P industry. He was also Manager of the Oil and Gas Exploration Division at Reson A/S where he was responsible for developing three industry standard sonar systems for the E&P market.

Hansen also has three years of field experience working in seismic exploration, detailed seafloor mapping for infrastructure planning purposes, as well as the installation of support for pipelines and sub-sea structures.

Commenting on the appointment, Søren Christian Meyer, Branch Manager, OW Bunker Copenhagen, said: “Bent’s vast experience of operating in the exploration and production markets speaks for itself, and I am confident that his in-depth knowledge and understanding will further strengthen our position and enable us to exploit the clear opportunities within the European offshore industry.

"It is vital that we have the ability to offer our customers a high level of service that is based on a fundamental understanding of business and industry; attributes that Bent clearly has. It is this foundation which has enabled OW Bunker Copenhagen to achieve the significant growth that it has already realised since its inception at the beginning of 2009.”
