Bunker One confirmed on Tuesday that it is expanding its supply operation in the Offshore US Gulf and Caribbean region with the launch of physical deliveries in Freeport, Bahamas, from June 1.

At the same time, the bunker firm has also strengthened its fleet with the addition of the M/T Waltz, which is to perform deliveries at Freeport's outer anchorage and offshore.

According to Bunker One, the M/T Waltz has a pumping capacity of 750 cubic metres per hour, plus high manoeuvrability with twin engines and rudder propellers. The vessel is able to store up to 5,500 metric tonnes (mt) of RMG 380 and 1,300 mt of marine gas oil (MGO) with a maximum sulphur content of 0.1 percent.

The M/T Waltz will complement Bunker One's other supply vessel in the US Gulf and Caribbean, the M/T Barbarica, which began providing bunkering services off the Texas and Louisiana coastlines in October 2018.

Up until Tuesday's announcement, Bunker One has been providing marine fuel deliveries in the four key lightering zones of Galveston Offshore Lightering Area (GOLA), South Sabine Pass, South West Pass and Louisiana Offshore Oil Port (LOOP), supplying high-sulphur RMG 380 and RMG 180 fuel oil as well as 0.1 percent MGO.

Commenting on the latest development, Georgia Kounalakis, Managing Director, Bunker One (Gulf of Mexico & Caribbean), remarked: "The continued growth of our physical supply platform will allow our customers flexibility and choice in their fuel purchasing requirements as we enter 2020, creating efficient 'bunkers only' port calls. Our goal is to support our customers' operations with effective, safe logistics and appropriate product availability as their preferred marine fuel provider."

Bunker One's Global Director, Peter Zachariassen, said: "I am very pleased with the expansion of our global fuel supply network and I see strong synergies across our well-established US and Caribbean operations. The voice of our customers is key to everything we do - and it's a pleasure to be able to accommodate their needs, wherever they are."
