ExxonMobil is launching Mobilgard HSD+ 15W-40 - an advanced multigrade diesel engine lubricant formulated for use in high-speed marine diesel engines operating in severe conditions.

The new premium oil is said to provide protection to modern low-emission engines, as well as older engine designs, operating on both low- and high-sulphur distillate fuel.

Its tailored, low-ash (low sulphated ash, phosphorus and sulphur (SAPS)) formulation is designed to help:

- Reduce the formation of deposits and sludge buildup;
- Deliver effective lubrication in the presence of water;
- Ensure startup wear protection;
- Safeguard oil stability at all operating temperatures;

According to ExxonMobil, the oil meets the latest API CK-4 specification; is approved or recommended by leading high-speed diesel engine builders; and is especially suitable for heavy-duty applications.

"Adding Mobilgard HSD+ 15W-40 to the range of products we offer underlines our commitment to providing our customers the best possible products and service," said Eddie Fish, Marine Global Field Marketing Advisor, ExxonMobil. "The MobilGard brand has served the marine industry for over 60 years, and the Mobilgard HSD suite of products are the only specifically branded engine oils for the inland and coastal marine sector."

Mobilgard HSD+ 15W-40 diesel engine oil is supported by Mobil Serv - a range of technical services designed to help customers optimise their maintenance programmes and enhance equipment performance.
