Petrol Bunkering & Trading to close Hamburg office


Petrol Bunkering & Trading Germany is to cease operating from May 1.

Hamburg-based Petrol Bunkering & Trading Germany GmbH (PBT Germany) has announced that it will be ceasing operations from May 1.

Explaining the reason for the decision, PBT Germany said in a statement that after 40 years in the business, Rob Morelis - founder of Swiss bunker trading business Petrol Bunkering & Trading PBT Ltd (PBT) - "has decided to cut down [his] bunker activities".

Back in April 2012, PBT announced the launch of Petrol Bunkering & Trading Netherlands BV (PBT Netherlands) to handle the group's worldwide enquiries together with PBT Germany. The Groningen-based firm - which comprises co-owners Ed Freese and Evert Elema, and bunker trader Johan Bolhuis - acts as agent for PBT International NV, Netherlands Antilles.

In its latest statement, PBT Germany said both PBT Netherlands and PBT International "will continue their own business as separate entities".
