Sinanju Marine Services wins bunker award in Singapore

Supplier recognized for its 'commitment to quality standards, quantity assurances and customer satisfaction'.

Bunker supplier Sinanju Marine Services Pte Ltd (Sinanju) has been presented with the Bunker Award at the 2017 Singapore International Maritime Awards (IMAs), held on Tuesday.

Organised by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) during the 12th Singapore Maritime Week, the biennial IMAs serve to recognize individuals and companies for their outstanding contributions to Singapore's development as a leading international port and maritime centre.

The Bunker Award is given to the "outstanding bunker supplier or bunker craft operator in Singapore that has demonstrated commitment to quality standards, quantity assurances and customer satisfaction".

As previously reported by Bunker Index, Sinanju was one of only two companies (excluding new entrants) to rise more than 10 places in the MPA's annual ranking of physical bunker suppliers by sales volume in 2016 - climbing 12 positions to 43rd, out of 58 suppliers. The other company, Palmstone Marine Services, jumped 15 places to 23rd.

Bunker vessel operator Sinanju Tankers Pte Ltd has six bunker vessels that have been approved by the MPA for bunkering with mass flow meters (MFMs); they are: Marine Honour (approved in May 2015), Marine Jewel (October 2016), Marine Kingsly (October 2016), Marine Liberty (October 2014), Marine Noel (May 2014) and Marine Oracle (December 2015).

Recent winners of the Bunker Award have been listed below.

2015: BP Singapore

2013: Shell Eastern Trading (Pte) Ltd.

2011: Sentek Marine & Trading Pte Ltd.

The award "recognises quality Singapore-registered ship with energy efficient ship designs, evaluated and awarded based on the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) and/or other additional energy efficient measures, such as the use of abatement technologies and alternate fuels."

Award winners were selected by a judging panel chaired by the chairman of the MPA, the chief executive of the MPA, as well as industry representatives.
