Bomin confirms Valencia office closure - the sixth in a month

In the space of a month, Bomin has closed five offices in Europe and one in South America.

Bomin Group, a trader and supplier of marine fuels, is closing its office in Valencia, Spain, the Hamburg-headquartered firm told Bunker Index on Wednesday.

It means that Bomin has now confirmed the closure of six offices in the space of a month, five of them in Europe. On Tuesday, Bomin said it was shutting its offices in Madrid, Tallinn and Rio de Janeiro; whilst in November, office closures in Athens and London were announced.

Bomin said this week that it had established a 'regional hub' structure, with key offices in Hamburg, Houston, Dubai and Singapore supporting the company's offices and operations around the world.

Bomin (under its previous name Bominflot) began its shore-based physical supply operation in Valencia in July 2011, delivering RMG-specification 380 centistoke (cSt) intermediate fuel oil (IFO) and DMA-specification marine gas oil (MGO) to clients calling at the Spanish port. It has held a license to supply both inside the port and at anchorage, and been supplying ex-pipeline to tankers operating at Valencia's TEPSA Terminal.

Bomin's initial storage capaciy at the local tank farm was 30,000 tonnes of fuel oil and 5,000 tonnes of MGO, for which it signed a long-term storage agreement.

In January 2012, Bomin extended its coverage to Sagunto, located approximately 30 kilometres north of Valencia. The company later began supplying at Alicante and Castellon in August of the same year.

This week, Bomin confirmed that it is ceasing its physical supply activities along the east coast of Spain, in addition to Estonia.

The Valencia office comprises Eduardo Aguirre, Site Manager Valencia; Marcos Burgos, Agent; and Amparo Chacon, Administrative Assistant.
