OOCL raises BAF by 13.5 percent


China to Europe and the Meditteranean BAF to come into effect in September.



Shipping and logistics company Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) has announced that from next month it will be applying the following Bunker Adjustment Factor (BAF) on shipments from China to Europe and the Meditterranean.

Effective September 2008 - China to Europe and the Mediterranean

BAF: USD766/TEU.

Effective September 2008 - China to Europe low sulphur fuel surcharge (MAR)

MAR: USD13/TEU.

Both rates were previously adjusted in mid-July. The China to Europe and the Mediterranean BAF was increased to USD675/TEU last month and came into effect on August 1st 2008. The rise of USD91/TEU to USD 766/TEU in September represents a 13.5 percent increase.

The China to Europe low sulphur fuel surcharge (MAR) has been increased by USD1/TEU compared to last month. This signifies a rise of 8.3 percent.
