Petrobras adds bunker barges in Brazil


Supplier has two new double-hull barges operating in Santos and Rio de Janeiro.

Marine fuel supplier Petroleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) has confirmed the addition of two new double-hull barges in Brazil's two key bunkering ports, Santos and Rio de Janeiro.

The MV Luiz Rebelo II has the capacity to load around 2,300 metric tonnes of product and has a pumping rate of 300 cubic metres per hour. The vessel is to operate in Rio de Janeiro.

The OSM XVIII has a storage capacity of approximately 3,000 metric tonnes of fuel and a pumping rate of 500 cubic metres per hour. The bunker barge is to carry out deliveries in the port of Santos.

"These new barges have arrived to improve the delivering bunker services in both ports, which are two of the most remarkable ports of Brazil and they will definitively speed our operations up, increase the delivery services as well as reduce the waiting time," Petrobras said in a statement.
