Dan-Bunkering appoints general manager in Beijing

Zhang Chao was previously employed as manager of OW Bunker's Beijing operation.

Dan-Bunkering has announced that Zhang Chao [pictured] has been appointed general manager of its subsidiary office in Beijing.

Zhang was previously employed in a similar position as manager of OW Bunker's Beijing operation between May 2012 and November 2014. Prior to this, he worked for China Marine Bunker (Petro China) Co., Ltd (Chimbusco).

On the company's website, Zhang is quoted as saying in his profile: "I graduated from Shanghai Maritime University in 2006 and since then I have been engaged in bunker business including barge operation, bunker trading, and paper dealing. I enjoy working in a positive environment and with creative people. I am curious about history and anything mysterious. I spend most of [my] spare time with my family."

Dan-Bunkering announced the launch of its Beijing office in April 2013. Speaking at the time, Søren Pedersen, head of Dan-Bunkering's operations in China, remarked: "Beijing is the first step in our expansion in China, which will continue in the coming years with additional offices."

Zhang joins business manager Dave Zheng and marketing executive Dena Kong, who began working for Dan-Bunkering in 2011 and 2012 respectively and were the first two people to work for Dan-Bunkering in Beijing.

"Zhang Chao is the third member of staff in the Beijing office and it is expected that the office will increase contributions to the activities in the Chinese region," Dan-Bunkering said in an emailed statement today.
