Mobil SHC Aware hydraulic oils approved by Eaton Corporation and Parker Hannifin Denison

Environmentally Acceptable Lubricants (EAL) are designed to optimize the performance of hydraulic systems.

The Mobil SHC Aware H series - a range of synthetic, environmentally acceptable lubricants developed by ExxonMobil Marine Fuels and Lubricants - has been approved by Parker Hannifin Denison and Eaton Corporation following what has been described as "extensive testing".

The Mobil SHC Aware H series of hydraulic fluids are part of the Mobil SHC Aware product line, which have been designed to meet the requirements for environmentally acceptable lubricants as outlined in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) 2013 Vessel General Permit (VGP).

The products are said to meet meet the VGP requirements for biodegrability, non-toxicity and non-bioaccumlation. The series has been scientifically engineered to provide sustainability, performance and productivity benefits to marine operators, while also ensuring regulatory compliance.

Commenting on the product range, ExxonMobil said: "Designed for hydraulic systems operating under high loads and high pressures, the Mobil SHC Aware H series of hydraulic oils offers outstanding load-carrying and anti-wear properties, in addition to excellent wide temperature range performance of -30° to +100°C (-22 to 212°F). As a result, the product series offers the potential to extend equipment life and reduce maintenance downtime, when compared with conventional mineral oils."

The series has been developed for applications such as marine controllable pitch propellers (CPP) systems, fin stabilisers, deck equipment and hydraulic steering systems where spills or leakage could result in adverse environment impact.

Ray Pomfret, global marine lubricants sales manager, ExxonMobil Marine Fuels & Lubricants, remarked: "The receipt of these key hydraulic OEM approvals confirms that Mobil SHC Aware H series is not only compliant with environmental regulations, but it can also protect and optimise the performance of hydraulic systems operating in challenging environments."

In addition to Mobil SHC Aware lubricants, ExxonMobil offers a range of oils, greases and technical services for marine operators, such as Mobilgard cylinder oils, MobilGard Cylinder Condition Monitoring and SignumSM Oil Analysis.
