First Aabenraa STS operation for Monjasa vessel

New vessel carried out its first bunkering operation at Aabenraa on October 7.

Pan European Terminals (PET), which provides transhipment and storage facilities in Europe and Russia for the hydrocarbon industry, has confirmed that its 100%-owned subsidiary, Dan Balt Tank Lager A/S, has been notified by its client, Monjasa A/S, of an increase to its ship-to-ship (STS) bunkering fleet in the Ska region of the Danish Straits, one of the busiest straits in the world in terms of shipping density.

Monjasa has increased its fleet with the addition of the MT San Pedro Pio [pictured], which completed its first bunkering operation at Dan Balt's Aabenraa terminal on 7 October 2013.

As a result of the fleet expansion, Dan Balt is expected to see a greater throughput of product at the facility. The vessel is less than one year old and has been modified in Aabenraa to undertake STS bunkering in the Skagen area.

New Safety and Disaster Management Plan

Due to the extensive upgrades that have been carried out in the last nine months at the Dan Balt terminal, the management team have, together with Ramboll as consultants and advisors, produced a new five year Safety and Disaster Management Plan for the approval of the local Danish authorities, including the police and health and safety departments.

This extensive SDM Plan covers all aspects of disaster recovery and mitigation that might arise in the next five years. It is hoped that the SDM Plan will receive final approval from the authorities, who have been involved in the process with the company throughout the year, in January 2014.

A full copy of the SDM Plan will be published in due course, PET said.
