BP Singapore Pte Ltd. has been named the port of Singapore's leading bunker supplier by volume in 2012, according to data released by the Maritime and Port Authority (MPA).
In a list of the 20 top bunker suppliers at the world's largest bunker port last year,
BP Singapore retained the position of leading supplier for the tenth year in a row.
The most significant change to last year's Top 5 places was the rise of
Sentek Marine & Trading Pte. Ltd. from fifth to second position, whilst
Brightoil Petroleum (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. - which entered the Top 20 list for the first time in 2011 - fell one place last year to third. Meanwhile,
Chemoil International Pte. Ltd. entered the Top 5 for the first time after rising one place to fifth.
Meanwhile, oil major
ExxonMobil Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. dropped out of the Top 3 for the first time in several years, falling three places to sixth.
Companies to rise up the list into the Top 10 were
Transocean Oil Pte. Ltd.,
Shell Eastern Trading Pte Ltd and
Hong Fatt Oil Trading Pte. Ltd.. Shell had dropped out of the Top 10 list in 2011, having previously been a Top 5 supplier in 2008 and 2009, whilst Hong Fatt and Transocean entered the Top 10 for the first time in 2012, jumping nine and ten places respectively.
Companies to fall out of the Top 10 in 2012 were
Universal Energy Pte. Ltd,
Equatorial Marine Fuel Management Services Pte. Ltd. and
Aegean Bunkering (S) Pte. Ltd., whilst
Searights Maritime Services Pte. Ltd. and
Toyota Tsusho Petroleum (S) Pte. Ltd. also dropped places.
Meanwhile,
O.W. Bunker Far East (Singapore) Pte. Ltd.,
Singapore Petroleum Company Ltd.,
Alliance Oil Trading Pte. Ltd. and
Seven Seas Oil Trading Pte. Ltd. failed to make last year's Top 20 list.
Bunker sales volumes in Singapore fell by 0.5 million tonnes to 42.7 million tonnes last year, down from 43.2 million tonnes in 2011. It is the first time since 2002 that year-on-year bunker volumes have decreased.
