Titan LNG has announced the launch of its Marine LNG Assessment Tool, which is designed to provide decision-making support to shipping firms that are weighing up their options regarding the future propulsion of their vessels.

The new tool is a PDF form that bunker buyers can fill in to calculate the difference in price between running a vessel on LNG compared to marine gas oil (MGO) - to help evaluate if LNG is suitable for specific vessel types and trade patterns.

Vessel data and variables added by the user include ship and engine type, engine power, operational days per year and average engine loading. Buyers are also asked to enter the bunker location, annual MGO consumption and the average number of days between each bunkering operation.

Commenting on the new tool, Titan explained: "As an experienced provider of LNG bunkering services, we understand that a new fuel is a complex decision for ship owners and charterers. That's why we decided to build this user-friendly tool to help evaluate if LNG is suitable for specific vessel types and trade patterns."
