D/S Norden is currently seeking to employ a student assistant to form part of its Fuel Efficiency team, which currently comprises three permanent employees and three student assistants.

With bunker desks in Europe (Copenhagen), Asia (Singapore) and North America (Annapolis, US), Norden has a global strategy in place to reduce fuel consumption.

In a bid to optimize operations, the Fuel Efficiency team performs performance trending on Norden's fleet of around 350 ships, and uses mathematical modelling, machine learning and neural networks to analyze large amounts of data from various sources.

The successful student assistant candidate will be tasked with developing and implementing regression testing tools; designing and optimizing database structures; developing numerical tools for performance monitoring; compiling collected data to support systems; and carrying out support work for other departments in the company (home and abroad).

Norden says it is looking to employ someone with knowledge of analytical methods for data processing and MATLAB software. It would also be advantageous to have knowledge SQL, but not a requirement.

"Your work style is characterized by structure, thoroughness and attention to detail. You work independently and are service minded," the company adds.

In order to find out more about the role, please contact former student assistant Thomas Lindberg on +45 3271 0803. CVs should be submitted no later than Friday, October 5.
