Ivar Oil AB announced on Wednesday that it is now operating under the name ScanOcean AB, and has expanded its team with the appointment of Christoffer Ahlqvist as head of trading.

Prior to joining ScanOcean, Ahlqvist was bunker trader at KPI Bridge Oil London between 2013 and 2017, where he became team leader in early 2016.

"With several years' experience of bunker trading with a major bunker trader in London, he will be fundamental in developing our business further," ScanOcean said in a statement.

ScanOcean has also hired Svante Carlberg as the company's senior advisor, bringing with him more than three decades of experience in the shipping industry, having worked as a bunker trader and buyer in the Scandinavian market.

ScanOcean markets itself as a firm that covers three key elements of the bunker supply chain: buying, supplying and trading.

Established in 2013 as Ivar Oil AB, the business began functioning as a purchasing organization for various Scandinavian shipowners. Since then, ScanOcean has grown to become an international marine fuel and lubricant supplier, trader and buyer.

In Sweden, ScanOcean operates as a physical supplier of marine gas oil (MGO). Thanks to its network of trucks and strategic partnerships, the company says it is able to arrange physical deliveries in practically any of the country's ports, whilst in Stockholm it is also able to supply by barge.

Furthermore, the company notes that it has "solid financial strength" with the financial backing of its parent company Ivar Lundh & Co, which has been in the shipping industry for more than a century.
