Arte Bunkering, a bunker trading company with offices in Cyprus, Estonia, Germany, Greece, Singapore, UAE and United States, is recruiting a Mandarin-speaking senior bunker trader to be based in either Shanghai or Hong Kong, marking what the company describes as its first on-the-ground hire in China.

The role, advertised on LinkedIn, calls for a candidate with a minimum of three to five years of experience in bunker trading and an existing and transferable client portfolio from China and Hong Kong — described as essential.

The new hire is intended to drive regional growth in the Chinese market and manage the full trading cycle independently, from sourcing and fixture operations through to delivery and payment collection. Responsibilities also include identifying and developing relationships with shipowners, operators and charterers, as well as monitoring market trends and supply chain developments.

Candidates are required to demonstrate high proficiency in both written and spoken Mandarin Chinese, alongside working proficiency in English. A strong understanding of shipping, marine fuels and bunker trading operations is also listed among the requirements.

Arte Bunkering adds that it offers a close-knit, collaborative environment and that the incoming trader will have a direct influence on how business decisions are made in the company.

The position is said to come with a competitive salary and performance-based bonuses.
