New Times Shipbuilding held a naming ceremony on 16 June for a 299,500-deadweight-tonne LNG dual-fuel crude oil tanker, officially christening the vessel Mount Vision.

The ceremony, held at the shipyard’s facilities in China, marked the naming of Hull No. 0330005, a very large crude carrier (VLCC) capable of running on LNG as an alternative fuel. The ship’s godmother, Mrs Lirong Han, performed the traditional christening by breaking a champagne bottle against the hull.

Among those present at the event were New Times Shipbuilding’s chief executive, Mr Liu Haijin; executive deputy general manager, Zhang Yuyong; and deputy general manager and executive director, Yuan Heng.

On the owner and financing side, the ceremony was attended by Tor Olav Trøim, the vessel’s owner; Bjørn Isaksen, chairman of Bruton Ltd; and Si Bin, president of CIB Leasing. Also present were DNV senior vice presidents Catrine Vestereng and Øyvind Pettersen.
