BGN has signed a contract with HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HD HHI) for the construction of two dual-fuel very large gas carriers (VLGCs), according to an announcement.

The vessels, each with a cargo capacity of 93,000 cbm, will be built at HD HHI's shipyard in South Korea and are scheduled for delivery by 2029. The order follows BGN's recent contract for four additional dual-fuel VLGCs and brings the company's owned LPG VLGC fleet to 19 ships.

The new vessels are designed to operate on both conventional and lower-emissions fuels and are said to be capable of carrying ammonia — a characteristic BGN says supports its commitment to the decarbonisation of maritime transport.

BGN, which operates one of the larger owned and chartered shipping fleets in its sector, says it continues to invest in modern maritime infrastructure to support growing global energy demand and strengthen supply chains.

HD HHI is one of South Korea's largest shipbuilders and has been an active builder of gas carriers for international operators.
