Zhoushan Changhong International has commenced construction on the third 11,400-teu LNG dual-fuel container ship in an 18-vessel series for Oceanroutes Management Inc.

The vessel, designated CHB2061, began construction on 15 May in the shipyard's intelligent processing workshop, marking its entry into the continuous construction phase.

Representatives from the shipowner's supervision team, classification society DNV, and Changhong International attended the ceremony.

The series was jointly developed and designed by CIMC ORIC and Changhong International. The vessels measure approximately 299.95 metres in length, 48.20 metres in width, and 27.0 metres in depth, and are classed by DNV.

According to Changhong International, this is currently the project with the largest single order for 10,000 TEU vessels.

The vessel employs technologies including wide-body optimisation design, lightweight material application, and dual-fuel system integration. Energy-saving features include windshields, energy-saving ducts, and high-efficiency twist rudders, which the shipyard claims reduce main engine fuel consumption.

The design is said to meet the latest regulatory requirements and achieve energy savings of more than 30% below the EEDI Phase III standard.
