Changhong International has moved a 19,000-teu LNG dual-fuel container ship, CHB2047, into dry dock and laid its keel at its Daishan base in Zhoushan, China.

The milestone took place at Dock No. 2 at 10:18am local time (2:18am GMT) on 12 May.

CHB2047 is being built for MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company. JiHun Jung, project manager for the shipowner’s on-site supervision team, attended the ceremony alongside team members, representatives from DNV and senior figures from Dinghai Shipbuilding and Daishan Shipbuilding.

Changhong described the newbuild as the largest LNG dual-fuel container ship currently being built in Zhejiang Province.

The boxship is approximately 366 metres long, 58.8 metres wide and 30.2 metres deep. It has a design draught of 17 metres and a capacity of 19,000 TEU.

The vessel will use LNG dual-fuel propulsion and is designed to meet international emission standards, according to the shipbuilder.

The latest development follows Changhong International’s early delivery of the final LNG dual-fuel boxship in another MSC series.
