Berg Propulsion has signed a contract with Akdeniz Shipyard to supply the propulsion package for an 8,000-dwt diesel-electric chemical tanker.
The RINA-classed newbuilding will be constructed for Transka Tankers to a design by Türkiye-based Norden Design House, with delivery scheduled for February 2027.
Berg Propulsion said its scope covers a complete main propulsion arrangement, twin-in/single-out gearbox, dual permanent magnet machines, control system, and a bow thruster with an electric motor.
The Swedish manufacturer stated that it looks forward to supporting the tanker's performance and efficiency.
Berg Propulsion is a Swedish marine engineering company that designs, manufactures, and supports advanced ship propulsion systems, including controllable- and fixed-pitch propellers, azimuth and transverse thrusters, and integrated control and electrical solutions for commercial and naval vessels worldwide.
