AET’s head of sustainability, Chris Cattermole, outlined the tanker operator’s approach to decarbonisation at Marine Money 2026, held during Singapore Maritime Week on 22 April.
Speaking on the panel 'Energy Transition vs. Commercial Reality,' Cattermole highlighted AET’s multi-fuel pathway, spanning LNG, ammonia, ethanol and battery-hybrid technologies, aimed at balancing long-term sustainability ambitions with charterers’ operating needs and commercial requirements.
He also stressed that AET is moving proactively to build optionality into its strategy as the regulatory landscape continues to evolve.
A key focus of his remarks was the role of commercial structures in supporting the transition. Cattermole noted that AET has developed arrangements with charterers that share risk and reward linked to decarbonisation measures.
He added that these partnerships are intended to create practical, commercially viable solutions that deliver value for both AET and its counterparties while helping move the industry forward.
Cattermole also called for closer cooperation across the maritime sector, encouraging stronger collaboration and knowledge sharing as the industry navigates fuel optionality, energy-efficient technologies and regulatory uncertainty.
AET is a tanker owner and operator within the MISC Group, providing maritime transport and specialised offshore support services for global energy customers.
