MOL Techno-Trade Ltd., part of the MOL Group, has completed LNG bunkering for the international cruise vessel Luminara at Nagasaki Port, marking what the company described as the first LNG bunkering of a foreign-flagged cruise ship in Japan using the truck-to-ship method.

The operation was carried out in collaboration with Saibu Gas Co., Ltd., which was responsible for LNG procurement and overall coordination of the bunkering work, while MOL Techno-Trade handled the commercial side of the LNG fuel supply for the vessel operated by The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection.

MOL Group noted that the project demonstrates the flexibility of truck-to-ship bunkering by allowing LNG supply without dependence on dedicated infrastructure, adding that it was "an important step toward expanding LNG bunkering services for international cruise vessels in Japanese ports."

MOL Group stated that it will continue working with partners to support maritime decarbonisation and strengthen the international competitiveness of Japan’s ports, with safety and reliability remaining top priorities.
