Petrobras has announced a temporary suspension of bunker sales activities at its Brazilian headquarters during the Carnival holiday, with customers warned of elevated fuel prices over the period.

The company said its Brazil-based bunker operations will be closed from 16 February to 18 February, with only emergency support available for matters linked to previously confirmed sales.

During the closure, all new bunker sales requests will need to be directed to Petrobras’ Rotterdam office, which will remain operational. The company has instructed clients to send inquiries to bunker-europe@petrobras.com until the close of business, Rotterdam time.

Petrobras also advised that product prices will be “temporarily higher than usual” throughout the Carnival window, recommending that customers either bring forward purchases or delay bunkering to avoid the higher-cost period.

Ms Naiara M. Bezerra will be available on the emergency contact line (+55 21 97210 6272) during the closure period, but only for issues strictly related to sales that have already been confirmed before the holiday begins.

Carnival is one of Brazil’s major national holidays and typically leads to widespread business interruptions across the country. Petrobras’ bunker operations are scheduled to resume normal service on 19 February.
