The International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA) will deliver a one-day training course in Rotterdam on 19 February 2026, focused on the role of surveyors in bunkering operations using mass flow meters.

The course, organised in partnership with C4 Fuel and endorsed by the Port of Rotterdam and the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, is aimed at supporting bunker professionals as mass flow meter (MFM) technology becomes more widely adopted.

According to IBIA, the training will provide both regulatory and practical insight into MFM-equipped bunkering operations. Topics to be covered include an overview of the regulatory framework, including the implications of the Measurement Instruments Directive (MID) and ISO 22192 compliance, as well as the underlying theory and operational principles of mass flow meters and their impact on fuel measurement practices.

The course will also examine how the surveyor’s role is evolving in an MFM-based bunkering environment, with a focus on adapting service offerings and maintaining oversight as traditional quantity measurement methods are replaced. Practical elements of the programme will address troubleshooting of MFM systems onboard vessels and approaches to optimising bunkering processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.

IBIA said the course is exclusive and places are limited, with registration now open.

Further information and registration details are available from IBIA at ibia@ibia.net.
