OceanScore has reached $5m in annual recurring revenue as demand increases for commercial systems to manage maritime emissions regulations, the company announced on 2 February.

The Hamburg-based firm, which provides compliance solutions for emissions regulations, now works with more than 100 customers and supports workflows for more than 2,500 vessels globally. Clients include shipowners, managers, ports and financial institutions.

According to OceanScore, the growth reflects a shift in how the industry approaches emissions regulation, with the EU ETS and FuelEU Maritime now requiring operational management of cost allocation, invoicing, forecasting and settlement — areas traditionally handled through manual processes.

"Reaching $5m ARR is not a finish line," said Albrecht Grell, managing director of OceanScore. "It confirms that emissions compliance has become a commercial discipline in shipping. Our focus is to provide the systems and transparency companies need to manage exposure, responsibilities and costs reliably across regions and regulatory regimes."

Following the revenue milestone, OceanScore has expanded its development team and announced several initiatives. These include the launch of a FuelEU pooling marketplace, preparation for UK ETS integration, and the establishment of an AI team focused on decision support and forecasting.

The company is also expanding its regional presence, including opening an office in Japan and establishing a customer service team in Asia-Pacific.

OceanScore has been mandated to administer the Environmental Ship Index on behalf of the International Association of Ports and Harbors.

Ralf Garrn, managing director of OceanScore, said: "As regulatory frameworks expand globally, companies need systems they can trust at scale. Our mission of turning compliance into commercial success guides how we invest, grow and partner with the industry."

The company's product suite includes Compliance Manager for shipping companies, PortView for ports, and ShipReview for banks, insurers and asset managers.
