GEFO Bunker Trading has secured certification under the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) scheme, covering both ISCC EU and ISCC PLUS standards.
The bunker trading arm of GEFO Shipping Group received the certifications on 22 January, following an independent audit carried out by SGS.
According to the company, ISCC EU certification confirms compliance with European Union sustainability and greenhouse gas reduction requirements, while ISCC PLUS applies globally and covers a wider range of sustainable materials and supply chains.
GEFO said the certifications support its activities in the marine fuels sector as demand grows for verified sustainable fuel solutions and traceable supply chains.
The ISCC framework is used across multiple industries, including biofuels and renewable feedstocks, to verify sustainability criteria and emissions performance throughout the value chain.
Based in Hamburg, Germany, GEFO operates a fleet of vessels involved in the transport of mineral oil, liquid gases and chemical liquids, whilst also running one of the world's oldest bunker trading businesses.
